A Thousand Dreams
I have had a thousand dreams
So real I almost held them in my hands.
Gone forever, so it seems—
Now blown away like grains of desert sand.
Oh, I had the perfect path.
I was invincible, my life complete;
Now I’m left with emptiness,
I see the shattered pieces at my feet.
Others cannot understand;
They say, “Keep on, the third time is the charm”.
But I’m at square one again--
Apparently just gained more wounds and scars.
Though I’m half a world away,
Today, my heart is stuck and can’t move on.
Wond’ring, thinking, asking why.
My mind still can’t accept it all went wrong.
Now I wonder where You are.
My eyes just cannot see You anymore,
And Your presence seems so far.
I need you much more than ever before.
Let your will be done, not mine.
Teach me to love the dreams you have for me.
Let me see your plan divine.
Oh, show me higher dreams than I can see.
